In October 2025, we received funding from DARE UK (Data and Analytics Research Environments UK) Community Groups to expand our learning and development offer.
Thanks to the fantastic efforts of our Learning and Development Working Group and collaborators from PEDRI partners and beyond, we are excited to launch our new online learning course: Working with the public and communicating clearly in data and statistics.
Over the past year we have worked with data professionals, public involvement and engagement practitioners and members of the public to create content grounded in the PEDRI Good Practice Standards that will help learners begin to strengthen their skills and confidence in involving the public in their work and communicate data and statistics clearly.
This course has been developed for data professionals, researchers, analysts, statisticians, and others working with data and statistics. It is now available for free on the Futures platform and on completion you will receive a Continued Professional Development (CPD) accredited certificate.
There is lots to explore and learn with video case studies from our collaborators, spotlight examples and scenario-based learning as well as interactive activities. The course is broken down into two separate modules with smaller sections, so you can complete the course at your pace.
Learning outcomes were built around consultations with PEDRI’s community, and we’ll be sharing more of the journey we took from discussing challenges around public involvement and engagement in data and statistics to creating an online learning course.
For now, explore, share the course and learn how to:
- Navigate public concerns about data use
- Involve public members effectively within data project constraints
- Communicate complex information clearly
- Tailor engagement approaches for different audiences
