This interactive session will introduce participants to LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® as a creative method for public engagement in data research and statistics. Those attending will gain confidence in using LEGO® bricks through in-person building of small models that reflect their perspectives on data and statistics.
The session demonstrates how storytelling and hands-on construction can foster reflection, inclusivity, and diverse learning styles. By engaging directly in the building process, participants will explore how creative approaches can break down complex ideas and encourage open dialogue with the broader public.
Participants will leave with practical skills to adapt LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in their own projects, supporting two-way communication, data literacy, and inclusive knowledge-building.

Dr Piotr Teodorowski is a public involvement and engagement researcher whose work is grounded in advancing inclusive, equitable research through meaningful public involvement. With a particular focus on amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities, his research explores how public and patient experiences can directly inform the design, implementation, evaluation and governance of research. His interests and expertise include the use of creative research methods such as LEGO® Serious Play, photovoice, photo elicitation, visual minutes and mandala, which allow participants to express their perspectives beyond words and engage more deeply in the research process. |
