Professor Mary De Silva is Deputy Director for Data Policy in NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), responsible for ensuring health data is used to improve patient care, a more intelligent health service and to improve lives through research.
Mary is driven by using the best data and evidence to improve health, both in the UK and globally. Her career spans roles in academia, philanthropic research funding (Wellcome) and Government (Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor, DHSC).
Mary also is Honorary Professor of the Practice at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
