Benedetta Lacey is a Deputy Director in the Office of the Chief Data Officer, Government Digital Service, Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports where she drives the strategic direction for data across government. She leads work on public sector data policy, governance and cross-government collaboration, helping departments to drive transformation and deliver better outcomes for citizens.
Her career has spanned tech policy, diplomacy and human rights with leadership roles across government, including the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Earlier in her career, she worked for Amnesty International and originally trained as a barrister. She is also a Visiting Professor for Impact and Innovation at the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab.
