Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used across the data sector. While public engagement is widely recognised as essential, effective conversations about AI can be difficult to achieve in practice. Rapid technological developments, technical complexity, differing levels of public awareness and uncertainty about the risks and benefits of AI all present significant challenges.
This webinar brings together a diverse panel to explore a critical question: what needs to change so we can engage the public effectively about AI in data research? Exploring topics such as environmental sustainability, inclusion, transparency and public trust, the panel will examine whether current approaches to engagement are keeping pace with technological developments, and what happens when public concerns do not align with research priorities.
This session is part of a series of webinars exploring how you can use the PEDRI Good Practice Standards for public engagement in data research and statistics.
