Anwar is a member of the PEDRI Public Advisory Group.

He joined PEDRI to extend his knowledge of data research, enhance inclusivity, improve health outcomes and ensure the ethical use of data. He has a passion for engaging under-represented communities.

Anwar has over thirty years of corporate business experience. Upon retirement, Anwar discovered a newfound passion for public involvement and engagement in research.

He first joined the Patient Advisory Group at the School of Pharmacy in Kent, providing valuable insights and feedback to researchers. He also joined the Research Design Services South East as a lay member, reviewing research proposals and participating in the pre-funding submission panel.

His lived experience of certain medical conditions is vital to his contributions to public involvement and engagement in research. He has supported several research projects as a public member.

He joined the British Heart Foundation – Data Science Centre as a public member and contributed to the Wearable project. He is also actively involved with the Enhancing Cohort area of work.
