Professor of Genetic Epidemiology and Director of the Leukaemia Research Cytogenomics Group | Newcastle University
Anthony has spent over 30 years studying how differences in cancer genes affect treatment and outcomes.
Currently, he leads a UK research group that collects and analyses genetic information from patients with acute leukaemia. This helps to choose the most effective treatments based on the genetic profile of the patient’s cancer. The group has built one of the largest databases of leukaemia patients in the UK, with information from more than 30,000 people.
Anthony also helps guide an international project called ALLTogether, which delivers novel treatment to children and young adults with leukaemia.
