This report commissioned by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) details the findings of qualitative focus groups, that engaged with members of the public to understand attitudes towards foundation models (large-scale artificial intelligence models) and their use in the public sector.

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology have been investigating public opinion on data and AI for several years. This report provides insight from over 5,000 people across the UK.

This report was created as part of a cross-Government pilot programme to demonstrate how individuals with complex needs can be better supported by the Government through linking and improving data in a safe, secure and ethical way.
